A confused collective.
Here’s a poster with details of Cassels’ next show. And would you look at that, it’s only bloody tomorrow.
Dressmaker are really fucking good too so come.
Cassels are too time and cash poor to play that many shows at the mo so grab a glimpse while you can.
So the Cassels’ 7” has arrived inn Rough Trade NYC - grab a copy if you live round that way.
Thanks very much indeed if you came to the Cassels single launch on Saturday.
If you didn’t, you can catch them at the following dates:
SATURDAY 27th SEP // Lineup TBC @ The Bees Mouth, Brighton
SATURDAY 11th OCT // Oxjam Clapham Takeover, details TBC
SATURDAY 1st NOV // Lineup TBC @ The Macbeth, Hoxton, London
See you there yeah, cool
Great bit of press for Cassels - interview now up on the brilliant London In Stereo.
Their FREE ENRTY single release show is now only 2 weeks away too, it’s at The Garage and playlounge, Fawn Spots and JOYA are also playing - it’s gonna be fucking brilliant.
SOME TRULY TERRIBLE PICTURES OF SOME REALLY GOOD BANDS WE’VE SEEN IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS
Here’s links to listen to all of them. Do it.
Cassels support The Blackout this Friday (25th) at Tooting Tram And Social
Tickets are usually £15 but we’ve got our mitts on some £8 ones so if you, or anyone you know for that matter, fancies coming but doesn’t fancy paying full whack then drop us an email or message us or something and we’ll be more than happy to hook you up.
Ta very much if you came and watched Cassels (above) in that sweaty tent at Truck Festival at the weekend - we had a swell couple of days.
More Cassels related good news too: very pleased to say Rough Trade will be stocking their upcoming 7” single in all of their stores!
Cassels are two brothers who recently came and knocked two songs out in an afternoon. There was literally no messing about. This tune has a sort of political theme, which I find to be refreshing when so many people are talking absolute nonsense in most songs.
This song and Rinse and Repeat make up a double A sided single out soon on Grebo records. Have a look why don’t you:

DEATHBEAMS ANSWER SOME QUESTIONS
So, there’s a week to go until the next CB gig and I imagine your excitement is palpable; akin to the lead up to Christmas only x 1000.
Anyway, come the night in question you should really do the following: 1. Arrive at 7.30 when the doors open, 2. get some booze down your gullet, and 3. go downstairs and listen/mosh/freak out to the flippin’ awesome Deathbeams.
Why not get to know them a bit better first too…
1 - When and how did Deathbeams start and who plays what?
We formed about a year ago. It started as a drunken idea and then it kinda just happened. I (Stanley) play the guitar and sing, Max plays lead guitar, Alfie plays bass and Rajah plays drums.
2 - What gear do you use?
I use a Gibson RD, max uses a Gibson SG, Alf uses a Fender Jazz Bass and Rajah just uses what ever kit the house has to offer. For effects I normally use a big muff and a chorus, Max uses a boss distortion and a delay, and Alf uses a bass overdrive and this weird “steel leather” thing witch makes the bass sound more punchy.
3 - What’s your favourite Deathbeams song and why?
Probably the one we just wrote and are recording soon - it sounds like the sound track to 28 Days Later.
4 - Who writes/how do you write the songs in the band?
It depends. Mainly I write most of the songs and Max comes up with a few licks to go over the top and we go from there but sometimes it’s a joint effort and just comes from pissing about.
5 - Why should people come and watch you on the 9th at ‘It’s Dark And We’re Wearing Sunglasses’?
It’s an excuse to get pissed and see some really rad bands.
6 - Recommend ONE band who you think people probably won’t have heard of and should go listen to right now?
God damn they’re fucking amazing. I haven’t had the chance to see them live yet but I’ve heard they’re just mad.
WEDNESDAY 9TH JULY // POWER LUNCHES // BE THERE
Big announcement coming later this week…
AZTRAL PLAYNS ANSWER A FEW QUESTIONS
We’re super excited that they’re coming to play for us on the 9th at Power Lunches and Tom from the band answered a few questions for us too which was nice of him wasn’t it?
1 - When and how did Aztral Playns start and who plays what?
I (Tom) play guitar and sing, Sam plays bass and sings, Renzo plays drums. Started maybe 3 months ago, the Matt and Luke from old forest went to uni so i wasn’t involved in anything musically.
2 - What gear do you use?
Mostly fender guitars, I bought a fender bass 6 recently because i wanted a baritone. Pedal setup is pretty basic now, into fuzz/wah pedals. Amps anything loud really, i have a Laney pro tube 100 which is great.
3 - Who writes/how do you write the songs in the band?
We all write together, sometimes ill come up with a riff or some lyrics and we just around it really at rehearsal.
4 - If you could be in any other band from any point in time which band would you choose?
That’s a hard one, something not too rock and roll, I would like to say like Black Sabbath or the Butthole Surfers but I think I would have burnt out. So realistically, maybe like The Bee Gees, or Abba.
5 - Who would be in your dream band line-up?
Mr mojo risin
COME SEE THEM ON THE 9TH YEAH.
